YKK zips up cutting edge creativity with young ITS#FOUR talent

YKK and Fashion form an inseparable creative liaison, a partnership to which a new dynamic element has just been added: young creative talent.

In order to continue its tradition of emphasizing young creative talent, YKK has chosen Demna Gvasalia, a rising star in clothing design and winner of the ITS#THREE “Collection of the Year” prize, to spearhead a special project to create clothing in which the zip plays a key role.

YKK is a leading multinational company specializing in fastening products that has chosen this year to act as sponsor for ITS#FOUR for the first time, taking its place alongside such prestigious international companies as Diesel, MINI, i-D, WGSN and Ingeo™ fiber.

ITS#FOUR is the fourth edition of the competition (International Talent Support), an event created to support creativity in fashion and from this year photography, searching out talented students from among the most important fashion and photography schools in the world.

YKK’s mission has always been oriented on young people, highlighting their freshness and spontaneous ability to interpret technology in a creative way. In the past, YKK zips have been transformed into art by the capable hands of stylists, employed to create shoes, clothes and design accessories. These creative people have taken the best possible advantage of the product’s natural flexibility, variety of colors and materials.

Now, YKK has chosen to take this role of creative partner to another level, supporting the young Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia.

Gvasalia, who completed his studies at the Hogeschool Antwerpen in Belgium, has already designed several mini-collections for local shops. He was also awarded the ITS# THREE “Collection of the Year” award, as well as given official recognition at the Berikoni Caucasian Fashion Festival.

This new project reflects fashion and the innovative “vein” as conceived by this talented young designer: a blend of classic, streetwear and trendy style.

Demna Gvasalia is presenting his own concept of the contemporary; a vision of fashion that integrates iconoclastic elements in the menswear tradition and is unafraid to engage the technological elements available to modern clothing production.

The outfit will be showcased in Trieste, Italy during the ITS#FOUR competition’s final gala evening ceremonies.

YKK has once again proven its position as an avant-garde, innovative company capable of combining creativity and technology, providing new opportunities and stimuli to the young talent of tomorrow.
