The Coordinated Image of Proposte 2005

The coordinated image of the fair is represented by a mascot, a man with a yellow suit, the Proposte visitor that during these months we have seen in 14 different situations.

The main three were: awaiting the fair with the slogan “I am waiting for Proposte”, present on the advertisement; travelling to the fair with the slogan “I am going to Proposte”; and the reward for being at the fair with the slogan “I am at Proposte”, which can be seen at the reception.

For months the Proposte mascot has spread kindness and optimism. The figure is a large and strong symbol of Made in Europe textiles, with a full range competition on all markets.

The author of the illustrations is Angelo Ruta, born in Ragusa in 1967. He lives in Milano, where he graduated in scene-setting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he attended the course for illustration and cartoons at the Sforza Castle, and the professional course for Cinema and television techniques. He alternates activities as an illustrator and editorial graphic artist with those of film director.

His works have been published by Mondadori, Einaudi, Giunti, E.Elle, Editions du Signe, and Zanichelli; and on papers and magazines such as Corriere della Sera, Il Sole-24 Ore, Panorama, Il Mondo, Leggere, and Riza Psicosomatica. In 1992, he was selected for the Bologna International Illustrators Exhibition. He has exhibited in Tokyo, Nishinomiya, Kurashiki, Collodi, Verbania, Trieste, Padova, Bari, Enna and Genova. In 1996, he realised the short “Gli occhi aperti”, that won the Spazio Italia contest and the Press Award at the XIV Torino Film Festival, and the Directors Award at the first Genova Film Festival. In 1998 he wrote and directed the film “Animali felici”.

In 2001 he wrote and directed the theatre play “Il mio posto è in un campo di grano”, together with Pietro Pignatelli and the musician Stefano Battaglia, and “In pietra mutata ogni voce”, with Carlo Cassola and Andrea Ridona. In 2003, he won one of the four writing grants of the Solinas Prize with the script for the film “Il mare sotto il cemento”.

The originals of the illustrations are on show in the central pavilion with the related graphic products, realised by the Studio Michelangelo that has managed the image and communication of the fair since 1992, with the collaboration of the graphic expert Valeria Corbella. The set up of the exhibition is by the architect Luca Sacchi.
