Aplimatec
Gears Up for its Third Edition
The
International Trade show of Technical Applications for Textile
Materials (ApliMatec) will hold its 3rd edition from May 23rd-25th,
2006.
Featured will be the very latest in fibres, textile materials,
composites and their application in all production sectors.
At ApliMatec, innovation is showcased as a way for companies
to stay competitive. The results of R&D activities in the
textile industry will be on display at the show, along with
their applications in a variety of production areas.
ApliMatec has emerged as a venue that gives the traditional
textile sector a chance to take advantage of new applications
for textile materials.
As it is known, textile products have widened their field of
application beyond garment manufacturing and home textiles.
R&D into materials as well as processes has led to the development
of highly resistant, lightweight and flexible products with
new performance features that give them a high degree of added
value. These textiles are applied in agriculture and fishing,
automotive and aeronautic industries, construction, transport,
medicine, sport, architecture, public works, personal protective
gear and apparel.
New textile fibres and their manufacturing processes have given
rise to applications that were unthinkable just a short time
ago. Technical textiles have shaped up to be a competitive edge
for the traditional textile sector in today’s globalised
market.
The importance of technical textiles can be seen in the increase
in their production in the world’s most industrialised
nations. In Spain alone, 21% of total textile production was
for technical use and had an estimated value of 2,700 million
euros.
ApliMatec will continue to offer two large exhibition sites:
Matex covers raw materials, semi-finished products and composite
materials, along with machinery and processes, while Aplitec
will focus on the technical uses of textiles in all kinds of
application sectors. On display here will be cutting-edge uses
for highly innovative textiles.
In 2004 ApliMatec received over 3,500 professional visitors,
46% of which were foreign visitors.
The trade show, which is scheduled once every two years, is
held in conjunction with the 3rd ApliMatec Congress, which is
structured around eight debate forums dealing with the most
important R&D issues facing the textile industry. New fields
of research, the needs of the industries that make uses of high-tech
textile materials, the requirements of an increasingly demanding
market, the relationship between innovation, universities and
corporations—these will be some of the major topics discussed
at the Congress.
Furthermore, the 3rd ApliMatec Awards will be held to honour
the contribution of individuals, research teams and companies
in the development of new textile materials and their technical
applications.
