PRESS
RELEASE 19 september 2007
Decosit
Brussels 2007 was a good edition. As usual, the quality was
very high and business was good, even though the attendance
was a little lower than last year. We’re very pleased
to see that the concept of ‘five trade fairs under one
single roof’ was very well received.
1.
Good ‘with a plus’
When
we say Decosit Brussels 2007 was a good edition, this is based
on several talks we had during the fair and during breakfast
meetings with both Decosit and DecoContract exhibitors and
on the first results of the inquiry that was held among the
exhibitors (200 of the 370).
The
2007 edition generally gave no-one a euphoric feeling, but
was simply catalogued as good with a plus. When we look at
the fair from a commercial point of view, we can say that
business was okay.
Still,
we have to hand back part of last year’s increase (+7%)
in the number of visitors in comparison to the 2006 edition.
During the breakfast meetings, no-one seemed to mind much
about this fact. The general advice was to hold on to the
high quality level, as our exhibitors are only interested
in professional visitors.
The
fact this strategy works is demonstrated by the results of
the inquiries among our exhibitors. 70% of them indicate the
quality of the visitors is very good. When we ask about the
general level of satisfaction concerning their participation
in Decosit Brussels 2007, no less than 80% indicate they are
satisfied!
2.
90% international visitors
Decosit
Brussels remains the most international trade fair in its
kind.

The conclusion: there is a drop in visitor numbers of around
5%. We end in between the results of 2005 and 2006.
Europe:
the Southern European countries did less well, but there is
an increase from Eastern Europe. Scandinavia is doing better
than in 2005.
Asia: stable, both for the Far and the Middle East.
US: following last year’s spectacular improvement in
the number of visitors (+30%), there is now a drop of 12%.
Maybe the impact of the weaker position of the dollar?
3.
The fair progresses around its concept
We
get the confirmation the integration of DecoContract and its
product range into Decosit Brussels is a good thing for all
parties concerned.
The
openness and concept of Palace # 12 (including Expofil Déco
and Indigo) is unanimously praised.
The
importance of contract keeps on growing and in general the
booths here were of a very high standard.
Our
conclusion: Decosit Brussels 2007 was a convivial fair, which
more and more is becoming an event in which sales are often
realised in a later stadium.
