“This has been made possible
by the group’s reinvesting of profits as well as its in-house
organisation”, claims Andrés Manzano Dólera,
the group’s general manager. In 1995, the company registered
total sales of 459,000 euros and in 2004 it invoiced more than
23.8 million euros.
The Smart Market Group is comprised by the companies
Smart Market (with the brands Icelands, Leopard, Alligator and
Mcgiver) and Appletree (Avocado, Appletree, Butaka, Moskovita
and Very Lady).
One of its flagship brands is Icelands, which
manufactures and markets over 500,000 duvets per year. Its products
are present throughout Spain and are exported to such countries
as France, Italy and Germany. Anne Igartiburu is the celebrity
that represents the brand in Spain, and Icelands also sponsors
the show that she hosts on TVE-1, “Corazón de otoño”.
The group has launched four new brands of products
for the home on the market this year (Mcgiver, Very Lady, Moskovita
and Butaka), a move which shows that the company is intent of
becoming a major player in household goods.
