Agreement
between Coelima and Coteminas for the Distribution of Textile
Products in the European Market
The Portuguese
company Coelima Indústrias Têxteis, S.A.—and
owner of Dalmases—and the Brazilian Companhia de Tecidos
do Norte de Minas (Coteminas) have reached an agreement for
the distribution of the latter’s products in the European
market.
Coteminas, Brazil’s largest home textile company, was
chosen as the “Brazilian company of the year” in
2004 by the magazine Dinheiro. It registered sales revenues
of 524 million euros last year. Up to now, it had only set its
sights on the South American market, where it has a strong presence.
On the other hand, Coelima, with operations based in Guimarães
(Portugal), is one of Europe’s largest home textile companies.
It operates on the European market with its registered trademarks,
with Dalmases among them.
For Coelima,
this is an important venture that it has decided to back to
the hilt. Towards this end, it has made investments worth 1.6
million euros in its logistics centre in Guimarães. This
modern facility is equipped with computer systems that are networked
with its European subsidiaries, which enables the timely, efficient
and reliable distribution of its products and now those of Coteminas
in Portugal and abroad.
The agreement between these two companies will be advantageous
for consumers, giving them a greater assortment of home textile
products able to meet the needs of all market segments at very
competitive prices.
Dalmases,
a Catalan company founded in 1912 with an extensive catalogue
of home linens, is the exclusive distributor of Coteminas’
products in the Spanish market, to which it now adds the competitive
range of Coteminas.
